Stats FTF Season 2012/2013

Porto

The Portuguese Champion had a change on the management and Paulo Fonseca is the man in charge. He showed awesome skills
as coach last season, taking Paços de Ferreira to Champions League.
On tatical aspect he is maintaining the Porto style of last seasons and trying to create options for the Champions League, using 2 DMC instead of only 1. I believe that these thoughts are only for games where Porto is not so favorite and also if Fernando leaves until 31th August, because no one does the same work as Fernando back there.

About the new players, Porto contracted players that made a great internal season. Licá (Estoril), Ghilas(Moreirense) and Ricardo (Guimarães) for the attack , Tiago Rodrigues ( Guimarães), Carlos Eduardo ( Estoril ) and Josué ( Paços Ferreira) to the Midfield.

The usual players from South America also arrived to Porto, Diego Reyes ( América ) CB , Herrera MC and Quintero Colombian Sub-20.

Paulo Fonseca also ordered Fucile RB and Iturbe return from loan.

Well, these are too many players and I do not believe that half of them will have any opportunity on a start eleven but they are fighting hard to get it. For now, I  see Carlos Euardo and Tiago Rodrigues a bit from those objectives.

Bernardo the Brazilian rising star can sign this week, however 20M for Porto are a bit too much and since Arsenal is also interested, I believe that he will go to Premier League.

Benfica

They had a dramatically end of season. Jorge Jesus maintained his position as coach and now he  has the task of return the confidence to his players and do a Big season.

The investment of Benfica was big and the players are showing a great talent.
Djuricic ( Herenveen ) 6M, Markovic ( Partizan ) 10M , Sulejmani (Ajax) Free, Mitrovic ( FC Kortijk) 1.2M, Steven Vitoria ( Estoril) Free, Lisandro Lopez ( Arsenal Sarandi) 5M, Silvio ( Atletico Madrid ) Loan and Bruno Cortez ( Sao Paulo ) Loan.
Mitrovic should go to B team and all the others will fight for a place on start XI, even Markovic with 19y.

The problem of Benfica is the need of one or two big sales, because they need money and for some positions they have to many players with value..
Steven Vitoria, Luisão, Garay , Jardel, Lisandro Lopez and Mitrovic are too many CB.
Yannick Djaló has returned but he should enter on loan process again.
I believe that the big sale will be Garay and also Oscar Cardozo ST ( that had a personal problem with the coach on the Portuguese Cup Final and his transfer to Fenerbahce is almost settled).
Looking for this team and being sure that Matic ( Chelsea) and Salvio ( Man City or Tottenham) won´t leave, I really believe that they will cause big problems to Porto and across the Europe.
The big lack of this team are their Full backs, Maxi Pereira and Melgarejo are good players but not enough for big damages on Europe, so we need to see a bit more of Silvio and what he is capable to do, because Bruno Cortez is not adapted to European football and needs more time.
